Waste Services

The City has contracted with Waste Connections for waste management in Lakeshire. They can be contacted directly at (636) 321-2100. All regular trash and recyclables are collected each Tuesday. Yard waste is picked up on Friday.

A 90-gallon tote will be provided for each residential unit free of charge. Owners of apartment buildings are encouraged to obtain a free tote for each unit.

Everyone who owns a single-family home, a duplex, or a condominium, must pay for recycling, whether or not you use this service, so you are encouraged to participate in the program.

The new prices for trash removal, effective January 1st, 2018 are as follows:

Trash:
$10.75 for single family homes and condos ($9.68 for seniors)
$21.50 for duplexes
$43.00 for four family buildings
$58.00 for six family buildings
$70.00 for eight family buildings

Recycling:
Included for entire city, however, there will be a $4.00 charge for totes for six and eight family buildings only.

Yard Waste:
$7.95 for single family homes and condos ($7.16 for seniors)

$15.90 for duplexes
$31.80 for four family buildings
$47.70 for six family buildings
$63.60 for eight family buildings 

  • Pick up day for trash and recycling will be on Tuesday and yard waste will all be on Friday.
  • A 90-gallon tote will be provided for each residential unit for no charge. 
  • There is a $25.00 charge per item for white goods.
  • For bulk items such as furniture, mattresses, dismantled swing sets and other large items you must schedule pickup with Waste Connections and a charge may apply.
  • Also, City ordinance requires that all eight-family building owners must use one four-cubic yard dumpster per each building owned. Citations will be issued for non-compliance. The cost of each four-cubic yard dumpster is $50.00 per month.
  • As of January 1, in years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 each category will increase by 2.5%.  

White goods are not allowed to be placed with regular trash, so you must call Wate Connections to arrange for pick up. There is a $25 charge per item for this service.

City ordinance requires that all eight-family building owners must use one four-cubic yard dumpster per each building owned. Citations will be issued for non-compliance. The cost of each four-cubic yard dumpster is $50.00 per month.

 

Trash and Recyclables Should Not be Placed at the Curb Until The Night Before Pick-Up. 

Empty containers must be removed from the curb at noon time, the day after pick-up. Failure to comply is a violation of City Ordinance.

 

Trash Guidelines

Bundles of boards/lumber must be cut in four-foot lengths and paint cans without lids (paint must be dried or have cat litter or sand added to neutralize the chemicals within).

The hauler will not accept metal/steel poles, household chemicals, car parts, rocks, or tires.  Yard waste mixed with trash will not be accepted.

 

Recycling

Call Waste Connections to obtain a free recycling container and current guidelines and procedures for recycling.

 

Yard Waste

Yard waste must be placed in containers or in biodegradable bags which can be purchased at hardware, grocery, and home supply stores. Yard waste placed in plastic bags will not be accepted.
